About Vickie
I was born on Kangaroo Island on 21 June 1957 and was educated at Parndana Area School and Pembroke School before studying Law at Adelaide University.
After graduating from Law in 1978 I became a Barrister and Solicitor and for many of those years ran my own small business, Chapman and Associates. My career changed direction in 2001 when the Liberal Party preselected me as their candidate for the seat of Bragg. I was first elected on 9 February 2002 and re-elected for a second term on 18 March 2006.
I have been involved with the Liberal Party from a very young age when my father Ted had me handing out pamphlets! I have been very active in the Party holding many positions which include serving as Vice President of the South Australian Liberal Party (1990-1992) then as President (1992-1995). I believe my roles in the workforce and the Party have equipped me for the challenges as a Member of Parliament.
During my time in Parliament I have been responsible for a number of key portfolios for the Opposition, including Education, Health, Attorney-General and Justice. I was recently appointed Shadow Minister for Families and Communities, Housing, Disability and Ageing.
It is a priority for me to be able to help my constituents on an individual basis. Every day is different and I am always learning something new. Through it all I am tremendously grateful for the love and support of my family, especially my sons Alex and Will.
